The Connected Conference, originally known as the ‘North of England Conference’, was first held in Whitby in 1986. It was the brainchild of a number of respected evangelical church leaders from Yorkshire and beyond who were concerned to address the relative isolation of the many recently formed or newly revitalised Bible centred, independent evangelical churches scattered across the north of England.

 

The intention of the conference was to provide an opportunity for churches like this to get to know each other and form meaningful relationships. From the beginning, a key feature of the conference has therefore included a time for sharing news from various like-minded churches in the north. The conference was also, and still is, designed to allow plenty of time outside the teaching sessions for making and building relationships. The aim of these two distinctive ingredients is to stimulate mutual concern, encourage contact beyond the annual meetings, and  especially promote the habit of praying for one another and for the health and growth of the churches.

 

Central to our conference is careful Bible ministry on themes of common concern to those attending. Through this, the organisers hope to strengthen the faith and instruct and encourage the hearts of all who attend in order to equip us all further for the work of the Lord where he has placed us. 

 

The conference moved to the more central Dewsbury area in 1997, and generally has well over one hundred men and women in attendance each year - all of whom are committed to service in their local churches. It is organised and run by a committee of men and women from serious minded gospel churches across the north of England.
